About Therapy

Therapy is about the client therapist relationship and the journey we take together towards change and enlightenment.  Therapy is a client therapist collaborative partnership to bring awareness to the underlying issues that creates challenges in your daily life.  Participation in therapy can result in a number of benefits to you, including improving interpersonal relationships and resolution of the specific concerns that led you to seek therapy.  Your time in therapy is your journey and a time for discovery.

I have extensive experience in creating behavior change strategies. Once we are able to identify what is keeping you stuck, together we can create a plan to get you to a better place.  Together we can create a safe, supportive space for healing, transformation and awareness towards your goals for change.  Clients are guided in their quest for self-discovery, sometimes worksheets are used as a tool for learning.  Each person is different but always encouraged to utilize their inner resources for change.

Anxiety and Depression

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, you can recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Relationships

PTSD and Trauma

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. In therapy we can focus on overcoming and lessening these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Do you have a child who has been newly diagnosed with Autism. Do you find yourself having difficulty accepting the diagnosis or the unique behaviors that accompany your child?  Are you frustrated with your own ability to address these issues?

If you are a parent, sibling, grandparent or caregiver, you may know first hand the frustration of trying to communicate and connect with a child, teen or young adult that has a diagnosis of Autism. Parents and caregivers often feel a sense of loss for what they have imagined for their child.

It is important to maintain your own emotional well-being throughout this transitional time in the life of your family. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I offer a safe, supportive and trusting environment to counsel individuals and family members who are affected by Autism. In the therapy setting, I offer a supportive and compassionate environment for immediate or extended families having trouble navigating the characteristics that accompany this diagnosis. I understand first hand the challenging behaviors and the stressors that can affect parents and siblings.

My work with Autistic clients and their families has provided me with extensive experience and understanding of the unique and sensitive issues that surround this disorder. For over a decade, my work as a behavior consultant allowed me to create behavioral change and skill acquisition programs for children and teens. Through parent education, I was able to work with family members to teach the skills necessary to implement programs to reduce unwanted behavior or to increase communication and cultivate critical peer relationships.  With young adults I focus on creating and maintaining healthy relationships at home or at work to provide insight and support while navigating social activities.

Through individual or family counseling we can collaborate to move past difficult issues as well as increase coping skills.
